I went down to a local shop to check
out what was wrong with my baby. I found out after a
summer of beating that my main problem, besides breaking
engine mounts, was a knock sensor. We replaced the knock
sensor, and everything seemed ok. Trusting my new found
friends, we decided to pump up the boost from 12 psi to 15
psi, but the idiot who adjusted the manual boost
controller cranked it all the way. We went for a pass
down the street and the car was running amazingly. He
jumped out of the car so I could drive, and my luck, the
motor popped on the second pass down the street. We took
her back to the shop and after a good month of downtime
found out it was a melted piston in #3. Time to rape the
after market insurance company, which helped me fund my
new motor, and new turbo since mine was on the way out the
door. After another 6 months of killer down time, we
stuck some good ol' JE pistons along with a T3/T4 turbo in
the car with a VPC and custom intercooler. I was back on
the street. I was over charged for the setup, and my
insurance company only covered the build up costs and
turbo, so I was quite out of pocket but still in love with
my new ride. |
